Uiii a happy and late Vijanera to you all!
Of course, most of you won't know what the hell is this... this is the first carnival of the year! But currently it is only celebrated in a little village called Silió, which is placed relatively near from the town where I live, and it is one of the most beloved permanences of the traditional culture of our region. This is part of the cycle of still practiced  pagan winter rituals in Europe, to celebrate that a new year comes and that the old one goes and takes the bad spirits away with it, and so on. I have NEVER seen it live, and I'm sure that somebody there still has not forgiven me for that reason (I'm sorry, you can be sure that I regret it too).
It consist on a series of creepy and pagan characters that make a trip at dawn through a haunted-looking forest and finally arrive to the village, where everybody waits to see them. It is celebrated the first sunday of the year, so you see I'm not so late...
